The Unravelling – In the Safe House

23rd May, 2009 by Chewbacca

The Unravelling - 13 Arcane Hymns It’s been quite some time since I last posted anything on Something Chewie I admit. However, when I received today’s track by Calgary, Canada’s “The Unravelling”, I felt I would be doing a great disservice if I didn’t post what looks to be an incredibly promising new progressive rock band. Describing their debut album as a “psycho-analytical concept album”, you can expect to be in for some dark, moody – but fundamentally – deep music. Their album is set to release later this year, although in the mean time, the majority of their music can be heard on their official website. Here’s hoping you’ll enjoy today’s track, “In the Safe House”:

Marianas Trench – Decided to Break It

12th September, 2007 by Chewbacca

Marianas Trench - Fix Me I came home today completely exhausted, and what better way to get myself back up and running than a catchy pop punk rock tune that gets you jumping and feeling good? Canadian Band Marianas Trench give me just the opportunity! There is an interesting story behind their name – when the band was caught up in bad weather over the Mariana Trench, they decided if they made it out, they would call the band “Marianas Trench” – fortunately they did! Their debut album released last year, “Fix Me” has had three top 20 records in Canada, and one that hit the US Hot 100. And one of those, was “Decided to Break it”:

Conjure One – Extraordinary Way

7th September, 2007 by Chewbacca

Conjure One - Extraordinary Ways Whilst we’re out on our "let’s do something different curve", here’s Conjure One, an electronic music project from Canada. A solo project by Rhys Fulber, previously of "electro-industrial" band Front Line Assembly, Conjure One has had two albums – proving his first wasn’t a one-off solo project. His second, "Extraordinary Ways" featured many guest vocalists, one of which was Poe. And the track, the imaginatively titled "Extraordinary Way". If you’re not much a fan of electronica, I’ll go on record saying its a pretty accessible track (and most of the album too) so here’s hoping you’ll enjoy it:
